Wayne's Ethan Bowens surged to the front late to take the win in 11.11. Oak Glen's Tristan Lawson was 2nd in 11.16. Bluefield's Jacorian Green was 3rd in 11.21. Point Pleasant's Preston Taylor was 4th in 11.27. Weir's Brayden Lawton was 5th in 11.34. Oak Glen's Isaiah Franklin took the final spot in 11.53.

Bluefield's Jacorian Green got a good start and held off the late push of Wayne's Ethan Bowens to take the win in 23.00 to Bowens' 23.03. Oak Glen's Tristan Lawson scored 3rd in 23.46. Weir's Brayden Lawton was 4th in 23.71 with Oak Glen's Isaiah Franklin in 5th at 23.80. Lewis' Cameron Latte grabbed the final spot in 24.05.

400 Meter Dash
Wayne's Ethan Bowens powered away down the stretch to take the win in 50.96. Point Pleasant's Jonathan Griffin was 2nd in 51.76. Oak Glen's Matthew Greenleif was 3rd in 52.55, just eding out Nicholas' Ethan Board in 4th at 52.65. Keyser's Seth Earnest was 5th in 53.25 with Shady Spring's Isaiah Valentine 6th in 53.33. This one was odd. Due to significant pooling of water in lanes 1 and 2, they ran 3 heats instead of 2.

800 Meter Run
Fairmont Senior's Logan Zuchelli blasted through the first lap in 56 seconds to take a commanding lead. Winfield's Matthew Scheneberg was in 2nd at 58 with Keyser's Seth Earnest and Oak Glen's Konnor Allison at 59 in 3rd and 4th, respectively. Frankfort's Garrett Ferguson was in 5th at 60 seconds, and I think it was Shady Spring's Colton Meadows in 6th. In the end, Zuchelli won handily in 1:58.37. Allison just nipped Scheneberg at the line for 2nd with both recording a 2:00.63. Ferguson came up to 4th in 2:02.61. Earnest held 5th in 2:03.04, and PikeView's Logan Keaton moved up to 6th in 2:03.81.

1600 Meter Run
Fairmont Senior's Logan Zuchelli was very aggressing, touring the first lap in 57 seconds. This d drew the rest of the field out fast as well with Winfield's Matthew Scheneberg in 2nd as 1:01 and Fairmont Senior's Tyler Hayes matching that in 3rd. Oak Glen's Konnor Allison was in 4th at 1:02 with that time matched by Elkins' Charlie Smoak. Frankfort's Garrett Ferguson was in 6th at 1:03. At the 800, it was Zuchelli all alone in the lead at 2:03. Scheneberg was in 2nd, Hayes 3rd, Allison 4th, and Ferguson 5th. After 3 laps, it was all Zuchelli at 3:11. At the end, it was Zuchelli with the win in 4:15.90, which sets a new Class AA State Meet Record and will also stand as the Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Scheneberg pulled away for 2nd in 4:24.23. Hayes held 3rd at 4:25.90, just ahead of Ferguson's 4:26.23. Frankfort's Anthony Sanders scored a big PR to take 5th in 4:27.87. Winfield's Brayden Marshall took the final spot in 4:28.71.

3200 Meter Run
On lap one, Fairmont Senior's Logan Zuchelli set a hot pace, taking the lap in 1:03 and establishing a gap on the field. Fairmont Senior's Tyler Hayes was in 2nd at 2:06 with Winfield's Matthew Scheneberg matching that time in 3rd. Frankfort's Garrett Ferguson was in 4th at 1:07 with Winfield's Brayden Marshall matching that in 5th. I think it was Frankfort's Anthony Sanders in 6th at 1:08. At this point, the camer decided to follow Zuchelli for the rest of the race. So, at lap 2, it was Zuchelli at 211. At lap 3, he was at 3:20. He was a 4:29 at the mid-way point, 5:38 at lap 5, 6:49 at lap 6, 7:58 at lap 7, and he sped to the finish in a stellar 9:03.93. This set a new Class AA State Meet Record and stands as the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. The record broken had been set in 1983. Scheneberg pulled away for 2nd in 9:29.74. Ferguson was a solid 3rd in 9:32.38. Hayes easily held 4th in 9:36.85. Marshall kept 5th in 9:52.44, and Sanders remained 6th in 9:55.78.

110 Meter High Hurdles
Winfield's Shaun Webb pulled away in the 2nd half to take the win in 15.56. Keyser's Zion Powell was a strong 2nd in 16.06. Point Pleasant got a surprise 3rd from Ian Wood out of lane 1 in 16.56. They added a 4th with Brayden Wise in 16.85. Nitro's Josh Barton was 5th in 16.94. Herbert Hoover's William Mercer closed out the scoring with a 16.97.

300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles
Winfield's Shaun Webb pulled away for the win in 41.23. Nitro's Josh Barton was 2nd in 42.17. Poca's Trenton Lett scored 3rd in 42.69. Point Pleasant's Ian Wood won a tight race for 4th with a 44.16, just ahead of Lincoln's David Tate's 44.31 and Winfield's Tyler Weiford's 44.40.

4x100 Meter Relay
Point Pleasant's group of Jonathan Griffin, Gavin Jeffers, Preston Taylor, and Trey Peck scored the win in 44.47. The front 4 were pretty close with Keyser taking 2nd in 44.77, Oak Glen 3rd in 44.91, and Bluefield 4th in 44.92. Weir was 5th in 46.08, and Lincoln took 6th in 46.19.

4x200 Meter Relay
Point Pleasant scored the win with Jonathan Griffin, Gavin Jefferson, Preston Taylor, and Trey Peck scoring a 1:33.22. Keyser was a fairly close 2nd in 1:34.04. Weir was 3rd in 1:35.34. Lincoln was 4th in 1:36.05. Berkeley Springs was 5th in 1:36.62, and Lewis was 6th in 1:36.73. One of my predicated placers won the event but was hit with a DQ on one of the exchanges.

4x400 Meter Relay
The video refuses to let me watch this one, so I don't know how it played out. The video shows them lined up, and then it spins for about 4 minutes, and shows the aftermath saying "what a way to wrap this one up." Anyway, it ended with the Berkeley Springs squad of Gabe McDonald, Tim Develing, Ben Golden, and Tristan Romo taking the win in 3:37.48. Keyser was 2nd in 3:38.33. Point Pleasant was 3rd in 3:39.95. Shady Spring scored 4th from Heat 1 in 3:39.99. Poca was 5th in 3:41.19, and Lincoln grabbed 6th from Heat 1 in 3:42.25.

4x800 Meter Relay
At the end of the first leg, it was Shady Spring in the lead at 2:05, Frankfort was in 2nd at 2:06 with Fairmont Senior matching that time in 3rd. Elkins was in 4th at 2:07 with Keyser in 5th at 2:08 and Lewis matching that time in 6th. After two legs, it was Frankfort in the lead with Shady Spring in 2nd. Winfield was in 3rd at 4:13, Fairmont Senior was in 4th at 4:14, and Elkins as in 5th, also at 4:14. After 3 legs, Fairmont Senior had moved up to 1st in 6:19 with Frankfort in 2nd in 6:21, Winfield in 3rd at 6:24, and Shady Spring in 5th at 6:26. At the finish line it was the Fairmont Senior team of Elijah Hannig, Jayden Richardson, Tyler Hayes, and Logan Zuchelli with the win in 8:19.20. Frankfort was a comfortable 2nd in 8:29.84. Shady Spring picks up the surprise 3rd in 8:32.40. Winfield was 4th in 8:38.55. Lewis was 5th in 8:39.55, and Elkins held the 6th spot in 8:42.52.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Oak Glen's unit of Aiden Flowers, Gage Patterson, Dylan Conley, and Cameron Tropeck picked up the win in 1:02.23. Winfield was 2nd in 1:02.54. Point Pleasant was a very close 3rd in 1:02.66. East Fairmont was 4th in 1:05.05. Frankfort was 5th in 1:05.74, and Nicholas scored a 6th from the 2nd Heat in 1:06.67.

High Jump
Westside's Daniel Reed was the only jumper to clear 6'0. Weir's Jayson Nosko and Lewis' Slate Swiger cleared 5'10 in taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Keyser's Harris Boggs cleared 5'8 to take 4th. Lincoln's Antwan Hilliard and North Marion's Praise Chukwudozie cleared 5'6 and tied for 5th.

Pole Vault
Winfield's Ian Johnson won a jump-off over Point Pleasant's Cael McCutcheon for the win as both cleared 14'0. This gives them each a tie for the 9th Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Point Pleasant's Gavin Jeffers and Roane's John Bowen cleared 11'0 in taking 3rd and 4th, respectively. Berkeley Springs' Dalton Hamrick and Roane's Luke Watson tied for 5th at 9'6.

Long Jump
Sissonville's Braedon Murray scored the win with a leap of 21'9.50. Westside's Daniel Reed was 2nd with a strong leap of 21'6. Oak Glen's Gage Patterson was 3rd with a 20'11.50, just outdistancing Philip Barbour's Richard Webster who went 20'10.50. Patterson had the lead after the preliminaries, then Reed took over 1st on the 4th jump and Murray then took it on the 5th jump. North Marion's Dylan Composky was 5th at 19:10.50, and Lewis' Cameron Lattea rounded things out in 6th at 19'05.75.

Shot Put
Poca's Anthony Dunbar got the narrow win over Weir's Jonathan Howard 47'11.50 to 47'8. Dunbar had the lead, but Howard took over on his final throw, but Dunbar got it back on his final throw. Keyser's Gabriel Ryan was 3rd with a 46'2.50. Winfield's Jon Covert went 45'1 for 4th. Oak Glen's Jeremy Taylor was 5th at 42.7'75, and Weir's Myles Rice was 6th at 42'6.
